Coach: Michael Neal
2019-20 Record: 24-1
The Lady Tigers enter the season as one of the favorites to compete for the gold ball in Class 6A. Head coach Michael Neal knows that his squad is loaded with talent and is excited to see how the season unfolds. “We are returning all five starters from last year’s team that went 24-1,” he said. “We have six players with Division I scholarship offers and three have already committed. Kelbie Washington will be playing at the University of Oklahoma, Chantae Embry is going to Texas Tech, and Mikayla Parks is committed to Kansas State. Myka Perry, Aaliyah Henderson, and Zya Vann all have not committed but have received offers.” Washington (5-7, Sr) will lead the team at point guard. She is a high energy athlete and has a lot of intangibles. The team leader in scoring last year, Embry (6-0, Sr) will continue to be a matchup problem for opponents. She registered 16.8 points per game last season, along with ten rebounds. Perry (5-11, Jr), who is a very productive two-way player, will join Washington in the backcourt. Parks (5-8, Jr), Henderson (5-8, So), and Vann (5-8, Fr) will all make an impact on the season for Norman. SOMETHING TO WATCH - The Lady Tigers were the number one ranked team in Class 6A heading into the state tournament before the COVID-19 pandemic ended the postseason competition.
