Deer Creek's Terin Ritz - Spotlight Presented By Integris
Terin Ritz is a senior at Deer Creek High School where she plays fastpitch softball for the Lady Antlers. Ritz is a pitcher and first baseman and she loves playing with this team.
“What I love about my team is how close we are and how we fight every pitch and every inning,” said Ritz.
Upon hearing they would be allowed to return to school and play softball, Ritz was ready after spending her summer working out and practicing.
“I was so excited to return back to school and to the field because with everything going on, I think that sports gives everyone something that they have missed watching and participating in. With my team, we worked so hard over the summer in practice and in the weight room, so we were all ready to go play ball,” said Ritz. .
Ritz also plays softball with her traveling team, the Oklahoma Athletics Premier Madden 18’s.
As a student-athlete Ritz said the people and the faculty at Deer Creek make it the best place to be a high school student.
“The best thing about being a student at Deer Creek is that I’ve made good relationships with many of my teachers. They all were very supportive of my softball career and some of them would come watch me at my games,” said Ritz.
Her sister Tori has been a source of inspiration and the pair have big plans for the future.
“On and off the field, my biggest influence has been my sister, Tori. She has had a few injuries in the past but watching her fight through them to get back to playing on the field was incredible. When I get to college, we will get to play two years together and it will be the first time we ever play with each other,” said Ritz. “After high school, I plan to go play softball at the University of Central Oklahoma and study forensic science and psychology.”
