Quick Hits:

The Huskies ended a 14-game losing streak by knocking off rival Edmond Memorial 21-20 on September 13th.

The rivals met for the first time in 1996 and have met every season since and twice in the playoffs. The Huskies lead the all-time series against the Bulldogs 14-12.

Edmond North has not pulled off an "Edlam" championship since 2012. Santa Fe has currently won five straight city championships.

Last 7 Years:

2019 - 1-9

2018 - 0-10

2017 - 3-7

2016 - 1-9

2015 - 4-6

2014 - 3-7

2013 - 7-5

The Huskies return five starters on offense as head coach Tanner Roof and staff work to fill in key roles and continue making improvements with each practice and game. “The team’s attitude is positive and motivated heading into the season. We need to continue to improve everyday and maximize the time we have this summer,” said coach Roof. The offensive line is one of the strengths of the team coming into the season with Sam Valiant (6-4, 250, Sr.) and John Tero (6-6, 220, Sr.) both starting at tackle. Protecting the quarterback and giving him time to find guys like Xander Steele (6-0, 165, Sr.) and Eythan Graham (5-11, 170, Sr.) is important for the overall success of the team. Both Steele and Graham have big play capabilities. Jarrett Whitefield (5-9, 160, Jr.) gained 309 yards last year and will see time on defense at linebacker. Another offensive lineman to watch is guard Trevor Meanor (6-5, 325, Jr.). Meanor is a people mover at guard and will open holes for the run game.

“The 3-4 offers flexibility to the number of formations, personnel’s and different tempo’s our defense could face,” said coach Roof. Zack Russell (6-0, 190, Sr.), like Whitefield, will see time at linebacker where he made 20 tackles a year ago. Teegan Leblanc (6-1, 290, Jr.) is a two-way player on the line. Lablanc will go both ways on the offensive and defensive lines. Jeffery Moore (5-11, 170, Sr.) will start in the secondary and see time at wide receiver. Linebacker Ethan Betchan (5-9, 170, Sr.) had 98 tackles a year ago and is back for his final season as a Huskie. Joining Betchan at linebacker is Wood Ingram (5-11, 180, Jr.) who made 58 tackles last season. Ingram is quick to the ball and reads the offense well. Free safety Bodie Klepper (5-11, 165, Sr.) made 90 tackles last season. His play is crucial for the success of the Huskies secondary. The 3-4 scheme the defense will run must have guys like Klepper in the secondary to cover the pass and force quarterback to run into the teeth of the defense. “Defensively we will lean on the experience of our linebacker and secondary groups to play sound football,” said coach Roof.
