Traci Wells is in her first season as head coach of the Community Christian Royals cheer squad. While COVID has caused it to be a rough year, Wells also says that over half of her cheer team were not on the team last season. “This year we have twenty-five girls on the squad,” she said. “Of that total number of girls, thirteen are new to the squad this season and eight of those thirteen are new to cheer. We were able to attend home camp this year through the National Cheer Association and we had six girls receive All-American honors.”

Senior captain Libby Williams says she loves cheering for her school and alongside her teammates. “I enjoy the positive and uplifting christian energy the school gives off during the games,” she said. “As a team, I love how close we all are and that no matter what we're doing, it's always so fun. The younger classmen have made my senior year the best yet.”

Though the team has a lot of new faces, Wells says that she loves how the team works together and grows together. “We have a great group of girls that get along really well,” she said. “They support each other on and off the mat. This team has put in a lot of work and they have improved so much. I am so proud of these girls and all that they have accomplished.”

The chemistry of the team is something that senior captain Hannah Millsap says that she appreciates, because it is not something that every team has. “I love my team because of the way we work together,” she said. “This team works better together than any team I've ever been a part of. Instead of working as twenty-five individuals, we are one team working together to accomplish our goals together. This change in mindset has changed not only our success as a team but our relationships with each other. This team feels more like a family than anything and I know I can count on any one of them for anything.”
