Westmoore's Kylee Munson - Athlete Spotlight Presented By Landers Auto Group

There are moments in all of our lives that we will never forget. Some may be positive, such as a wedding or a birth, while others may be negative, like the death of a loved one. Athletes make the same kinds of memories throughout their careers. And for Kylee Munson, her most memorable moment is a positive one.
“We were playing in the Regional Finals,” she said. “At one point, we were down by two goals. I scored one of the goals getting us back into the game and finished my penalty kick. Coming back to win that game the way we did was really awesome.”
Munson is a senior at Westmoore High School. She plays defender for the Lady Jaguars soccer team. Kylee is no stranger to soccer, as she is in her fourteenth season of competition.
There is a lot that goes into becoming a successful athlete, no matter what sport you play. Kylee can attest that the player she is today would not be possible if she had not put in the work. “It takes dedication, confidence, hard work, and being around the game,” she said. “It does not matter if you are getting touches, working out, or just watching a match, surrounding yourself with the game can help you more than you realize.”
Role models play a role in the lives of a lot of young athletes and Kylee is no different. She says that there are a few people that she looks up to and strives to be like. “My parents are great role models for me,” she said. “They are always pushing me to challenge myself and be the best me possible, in and out of soccer. Another is professional soccer player Julie Ertz. She accepts any challenge or obstacle that comes her way and gives her all with anything she does.”
Along with soccer, Munson is also a member of the National Juniors Honor Society. She will be attending Oklahoma State University in the fall to further her academic and athletic careers.
