Thomas Tucker may just be 17 years old, but he already knows the value of participating in programs in order to enrich not just his life, but the lives of others. That’s why he is enrolled at Canadian Valley Technology Center.

“I’m a part of Health Occupations Students of America and the National Technical Honor Society,” Tucker said. “I think it’s important to be a part of something bigger than yourself, and at CV Tech I was given multiple opportunities to do that.”

His desire to help others has carried over to his performance on the football field as well, where he plays center for the Mustang High School Broncos.

“I love being a role model,” he said. “I want to make sure those younger guys know that this is a brotherhood and we’re here to help them. We all make mistakes, and like Coach says, ‘It’s not about the mistake, it’s about what you do after the mistake to improve.’”

Tucker said he wouldn’t be able to accomplish his goals without several people who are in his corner supporting him.

“My mom pushes me to be the best I can be,” he said. “Mrs. McDoulett and Mr. Shriver have been pushing my classmates and I to be the best version of ourselves. I’m also grateful to CV Tech for giving me all of the opportunities and continuing to open up doors for me.”
