There are people in all of our lives that make an impact on who we are and who we become. These could be celebrities or professional athletes, but for some they are people a little closer to home. That is the case for Hunter Jones, who says he has two family members who have helped him become who he is today.

"The biggest influences on my life are my dad and my grandpa,” he said. “They both have taught me to work hard and stay dedicated and I can achieve anything I set my mind to. There is no doubt that I am the person and baseball player I am today because of them.”

Jones is a senior at Norman North High School. He is a member of the Timberwolves baseball team, for which he plays catcher and pitcher. He has been playing since the age of three.

Hunter says that while he has enjoyed some success throughout his baseball career, he knows he could not have done it alone.

“I would not have made it this far in my career without the great coaching staff at Norman North, as well as my family,” he said. “I have also had to put in a lot of hard work and stay dedicated. There have been a lot of late nights practicing and also being mentally strong when faced with adversity.”

One of the highlight moments of Hunter’s career was when his team won regionals during the 2018-2019 season.

“It was great to accomplish that with my teammates,” he stated. “It was great to see all of our hard work and practice pay off.”

In the classroom, Jones has sat through lessons taught by many different teachers. But he says that there is one teacher that made a big impact on his life.

“Quinn Reid is definitely my favorite teacher,” he said. “He taught me a lot about being a good person and also working hard, not only in school but also in life.”

Hunter is also a member of SPUD (Students Performing Unselfish Deeds), the Student Advisory Board and he was the All-Sports Baseball representative.
